The rambunctious Celtic folk of The Pogues, the storytelling charm of The View, the lush pop harmonies of Teenage Fanclub, the jangly delicacy of the Smiths, the yearning of a classic Oasis B-side and a Scottish brogue as defiant as the Proclaimers... Brògeal have it all – and makes it their own.
A bubbling cultural cauldron set to boiling point, the sound overflows with accordion, banjo, bouzouki, mandolin and perky penny whistle, where ancient folk tradition meets an indie Gen Z sensibility and laughs, sings and dances in the face of 21st century darkness.
With a wealth of standout singles and EPs under their belt, the folk-punk-indie-pop five-piece have toured relentlessly throughout the UK and Ireland, gathered ecstatic fans, and supported the likes of Paolo Nutini, The Mary Wallopers and The Lathums. Eaves Wilder began songwriting around the age of eight, harnessing an early obsession with ‘60s Motown records, The Beatles and the left-field pop of Lily Allen. Her inspirations are endless, but it was the riot grrrl movement that first blew the doors open for her.
Her debut, self-released at the age of 16 via the Orchard, featured dreamy shoegaze guitars, Wilder’s signature sweet vocals, and intelligent and deceptively cutting lyrics. This led to her signing at the age of 18 with label Secretly Canadian, with whom she released her first official tracks and an EP, Hookey, in 2023-24.
The campaign for her debut album – due for release next spring – kicks off this autumn with the first single, Everybody Talks, to be released by Secretly Canadian on 23 September.

Ellie O’Neill is an artist from County Meath, Ireland. Her music weaves a rich, diverse and tender landscape, traversing raw and intuitive explorations of intimacy and loss, friendship and queer identity. Writing mainly with voice and acoustic guitar, her songs range from cyclical, meditative, two-chord reveries to big-hearted, muscular, grungy confessionals. Merging poignant lived experience with an esoteric, dream-like symbolism, the complexity of her songs is heightened through fluid collaboration with various band members, while always placing emotional truth at the forefront.
Over the past few years, Ellie has toured widely both as a collaborator and a solo artist, performing across Ireland and the UK. Shows include support tours for artists like Adrianne Lenker and singer John Francis Flynn, as well as shows at Pitchfork London, Other Voices and Green Man Festival. The Sophs arrived out of the great blue yonder,” say Rough Trade co-founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee of the label’s newest signing, LA six-piece The Sophs. The band’s brutal honesty, flamingly intrusive thoughts, and broad genre-spreading caught their attention instantly.
Rough Trade heard creativity, variety, and a “don’t expect me to act pretty” sentiment that could land The Sophs — frontman Ethan Ramon, Sam Yuh (keyboards), Austin Parker Jones (electric guitar), Seth Smades (acoustic guitar), Devin Russ (drums), and Cole Bobbitt (bass) — on nearly any stage. “It’s rare that a demo sets your heart racing and sends you on a quest to track down its sender. But that’s what happened with Ethan Ramon,” Travis and Lee explain.
At any moment, The Sophs are entering pop-punk, blazing through funk, or talk-singing to the audience. “I want to steal and plagiarize and borrow,” Ramon says. “At the end of the day, the music is going to sound incredible.

Westside Cowboy sound new but seem to come from an old place. Surrounded by 1978 Fender Twin Reverbs, well-thumbed Wem catalogues, a four-track recorder and spools of cassette tape, the Manchester four-piece are made up of Aoife Anson O’Connell, James (Jimmy) Bradbury, Paddy Murphy and Reuben Haycocks.
With a sound raw as a carpet burn, they ride a thrilling lo-fi boxcar tuned to the melodic precision of Teenage Fanclub and held together with the slacker cool of Pavement. For most bands, this would be enough, but not for Westside Cowboy. Just when you think you have them pinned, they career the entire thing into a brick wall of country, trad and early harmony-coated, major-key rock’n’roll. They call this process ‘Britainicana’. A portmanteau of the band’s own making to describe American culture digested by English people in small towns with almost nothing in the way of cosmopolitan sheen.

YES AND MAYBE are a Scottish-French duo that blend instinct and precision to craft music that feels both familiar and unpredictable. Meeting online, the French multi-instrumentalist ‘Yes’ and the Scottish producer/vocalist ‘Maybe’ create songs grounded in introspection, storytelling and the indie sounds of the 2000s.
Embracing their remote collaboration, their debut album Train to Nowhere (2025) was written and produced entirely over WhatsApp. It captures the essence of the indie 2000s, acting as a true reflection of their shared vision. The result is music that feels both familiar and unpredictable, blending elements of their diverse influences into something entirely their own.
YES AND MAYBE isn’t about fitting into a genre or following a formula—it’s about capturing the essence, trusting the process, and knowing that if it moves them, it will move others too.

Formed on the island of Malta, Brighton-based, Anglo-Maltese outfit ĠENN are a self-described sisterhood founded on instinctive trust, their bold move to the UK mirrored by their 2023 debut album unum (a Latin word for oneness and unity). The album gained particular praise from BBC Radio 6 & KEXP for its ambitious negotiation of the band’s diverse roots, with a track-list that journeys through experimental rock, post-punk and Mediterranean folk. The collaborative video for the single The Sister Of also achieved a UK Music Video Award nomination for its cinematography.
"Complex, ambitious... with the chaotic energy of an informal jam,” remarked Pitchfork.
It’s little surprise that this has led to diverse invitations onto an international stage, appearing at renowned showcase festivals such as Eurosonic (NL) and The Great Escape (UK), alongside tours with Sub Pop Noise Rock heavyweights METZ, burgeoning post-punkers Deadletter and global art collective Pussy Riot.
