The Youth Play
ITB
The Youth Play are a Mexican/British band who pull from an array of influences, from grunge and shoegaze, to blues and dream-pop.
Frontman Diego is from Mexico City, and was once an environmental scientist – he met the rest of the band when coming to the UK to pursue music, as he felt he could make more impact in the world through his poetry and his art. Their latest EP explores how people strive to find joy throughout times of desperation and hopelessness, as their lyrics discuss the migrant experience, the climate crisis, and political injustice.
After an European tour with Been Stellar and multiple UK tours with bands like Wings of Desire and The Wytches, they’ve already caught the attention of tastemakers and respected artists, including members of Primal Scream, Jimmy Eat World, and Skunk Anansie. With new music coming in 2026, they’re only pushing their sound further—proving that British music is at its best when it’s fearless and used as a catalyst for change.
