Guided Tour of London’s historic music-industry heart: Denmark Street

Denmark Street
Tue, Sep 8 | 16:30 - 17:15

About

Led by expert guide Grant Lander, this short tour will unpack where music history was written. From the early days of song pluggers and pioneering publishers like Lawrence Wright to the postal room of Mills Music where a young Elton John got his start. The tour will trace the footsteps of David Bowie and Marc Bolan back to the former Gioconda Cafe, discuss the role of the legendary 12 Bar Club (now The Lower Third), and uncover the Sex Pistols’ chaotic days at Number 6. Plus, relive rock history from the recording of the Rolling Stones’ debut and Black Sabbath’s Paranoid at Regent Sounds, while learning about Dick James Music’s launch of The Beatles and Nirvana’s legendary London debut at the nearby Astoria.

Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the rock and roll folklore of Britain’s most famous musical street. The tour is limited to 25 delegates on a first-come, first-served basis and will start by the registration desk at Pop 2.
